Dogma. Doctrine. Different? Definitely!

dogma_1doctrine_1Do these pictures give you a hint about what’s on my mind? Look up the origins of the words. Dogma seems to imply beliefs arising from one’s own thinking. Doctrine seems to add that the result of such thinking is due to belief that those who teach and impart it have done their homework, and such thinking is therefore legitimate, more so than dogma. While I think it’s a pretty fine line, that’s what appears to be so to me. What do you think?

Oh, just to emphasize the over-arching framework of universal, non-negotiable principles above all that, of course.
